The company's primary water sustainability-related accomplishment to date involves the water conservation efforts at its manufacturing site in Shanghai, China. In 2024, Baxter implemented water-saving initiatives at the facility that transformed water use processes for sterilization and other purposes. The newly installed equipment and technologies cut the consumption of water by approximately 5,400 cubic meters per year. Apart from this initiative, initiatives such as centralizing the hot water supply in the shower rooms also reduced the overall water consumption by 32,000 cubic meters at the facility in 2024 compared to 2023.

Baxter International Company also completed a wide-ranging water-risk assessment in 2024. The company conducted a comprehensive water-risk assessment across all its manufacturing facilities and completed water-resilience evaluations in 21 out of 215 of its facilities, representing approximately 77% of the company's total water usage. Throughout the process, 14 priority sites for strategic action were identified, and action plans were developed in 16 facilities, with 28% of the identified actions completed by the end of 2024.

Finally, Baxter International Company also improved wastewater compliance performance throughout its operations. The company completed a compliance assurance assessment, reviewed permit requirements, and evaluated wastewater treatment processes at key facilities throughout 2024. As a result, wastewater exceedances were reduced by 91% on average compared to 2023.
