BlackRock, Inc.

Water dependencyVery Low

BlackRock, Inc. is a U.S.-headquartered global investment management company whose core activities are asset management, advice, and financial technology. Its direct operations are not dependent on water in the same way that manufacturing, energy, or other technology infrastructure companies might be, apart from offices and employee facilities. Its wider investment portfolio may be highly exposed to water, but that is a different consideration from its own operational water dependence.

There is sparse direct evidence of water stewardship in its own operations. In 2025, its staff gave time to community activities including water and forest restoration and cleanup. The company reported 79,371 hours of all types of community activities, with no indication of the time devoted to water-related activities or the water-related benefits achieved.

Through its investment fund, Global Infrastructure Partners, water and waste management are among the sectors of infrastructure investments it considers, along with climate-related risks and opportunities in the same portfolio. However, that is investment activity, not operational water performance improvement. H2Oversight does not equate sector exposure to water infrastructure with the achievement of direct corporate water stewardship.
