Salesforce

Water dependencyVery Low

Salesforce is a U.S.-based cloud software company headquartered in San Francisco, California. It offers customer relationship management, AI, data, analytics, marketing, commerce, and enterprise cloud platforms. As Salesforce depends on offices, data centers, cloud infrastructure, and electricity, water use is one factor in its ESG performance.

Salesforce's most significant water sustainability achievement is its investment in watershed resilience in Brazil and Mexico. In FY26, Salesforce launched the first three projects under its new water program, focusing on watersheds linked to key business locations.

In Brazil, Salesforce supported Conservation International's Conservador das Águas project in the Jaguari River Basin, a vital water source for nearly 9 million people in São Paulo. The project restores springs and freshwater ecosystems, increases native vegetation, and creates ecological corridors to reduce surface runoff, improve water quality, and strengthen watershed resilience.

In Mexico, Salesforce supported watershed restoration efforts connected to Mexico City's water supply. This included Conservation International's restoration of the Xochimilco wetland and reforestation in the Cutzamala and Moctezuma watersheds through the Arbor Day Foundation and Nación Verde. These projects are critical, as the watersheds supply water to one of the world's largest urban areas.

Salesforce also joined the Brazilian Atlantic Forest Alliance, a coalition that supports conservation, restoration, and biodiversity projects in the Atlantic Forest biome, including the Middle Tietê and Middle Paraíba do Sul river basins. These basins are vital for Brazil's water and climate resilience.

Salesforce's water initiatives also support coastal resilience. The company contributed to mangrove restoration through the Mangrove Breakthrough and its partners. Mangroves protect coastal communities, support biodiversity, store carbon, and serve as natural barriers against storm surge. This extends Salesforce's water strategy beyond freshwater watersheds to include coastal and blue carbon ecosystems.
