Glossary
Reporting Conventions
What Reported, Calculated, Estimated, and Not reported mean throughout the monitoring.
- Reported
- The company directly disclosed the figure.
- Calculated
- H2Oversight derived the figure mathematically from company-reported data. Calculated values are clearly identified and are not presented as company-reported totals.
- Estimated
- The figure is approximate, either because the company identifies it as an estimate or because the available methodology requires approximation.
- Not reported
- There was insufficient information to populate one of the Three Key Metrics. H2Oversight reserves this label primarily for the core metrics rather than treating every absent Supplemental Metric as a reporting failure.
- Completed versus projected
- Expected, projected, potential, or planned water savings are not counted as completed results. Projects under construction and future commitments are distinguished from demonstrated achievements.
- Separate water flows
- Withdrawal, consumption, discharge, recycling, reuse, replenishment, and volumetric water benefits are tracked separately. These categories should not be treated as interchangeable.
- Preserving company methodology
- Whenever practical, H2Oversight preserves the company's disclosed definitions, units, formulas, and reporting boundaries. Methodological differences are important evidence in themselves because they affect whether corporate performance can be compared reliably.
